As the firm’s new CFO, Schindler will assume responsibility for the firm’s finance and governance functions. This will include ongoing responsibility for Legal, Compliance and Risk Management, over which he is responsible in his current capacity as Global General Counsel.

Since joining Allianz Group in 2006, Thomas has held a number of roles, all of which have been within its asset management division. He has been Global General Counsel at AllianzGI since 2019, having been European General Counsel from 2015. Earlier in his time with the Group, Schindler was Head of the Executive Office at Allianz Asset Management, the financial holding company of Allianz Global Investors and Pimco.

Schindler will take over as CFO from Markus Kobler, who has been in the role at AllianzGI since 2013.

Commenting on the change, Tobias C. Pross, CEO of AllianzGI said:

“We are grateful to Markus for his 10 years of service as CFO at AllianzGI; he’s been a great colleague who has contributed to our success. He takes on a challenge outside of Allianz with our best wishes. Thomas is the natural successor as CFO; he has a proven track record of leadership, negotiation and decision-making as well as already being responsible for our governance disciplines. I am confident that the CFO transition will be both seamless and successful.”
